2001 Merlot ~ Two Moon Vineyard
~ Dry Creek Valley ~
THE
VINEYARD At 1,700'
elevation, Two Moon Vineyard sprawls atop McCray Ridge, located between
Healdsburg and Guerneville, at the southwestern edge of the Dry Creek
Valley appellation. The site typically begins each day in sunlight and
enjoys a steady airflow to and from the Pacific Ocean 15 miles west. The
four acres of Merlot, planted n 1987, are terraced to follow the contours
of the hillside, and the vines are trained on a vertically shoot
positioned trellis with unilateral cordon arms. Climatic stability allows
a long growing season and helps produce a wine true to the culture of a
mountain vineyard. Austere soils keep tonnage low & create complex,
age-worthy wines.
